Biden is continuing the genocidal war in Yemen.
Contrary to his campaign promise Biden is contusing Trumps genocidal Yemen policy.
One of Bidens top foreign policy promises on the campaign trail was to end the United States’ support for the Genocidal war in Yemen.
Like many of Biden’s campaign promises, this was a lie and Biden is basically continuing the exact same genocidal policy as the Trump administration.
Despite his promises, Biden is continuing to support Saudi Arabia and the UAE’s atrocities in Yemen and even floated bringing back Trump’s last-minute designation of the Houthis as a terrorist group, a policy that would kill millions.
Biden’s support for Saudi Arabia and the UAE
Biden’s first massive weapons sale to Saudi Arabia was in October when he sold $500 million worth of weapons to Saudi Arabia. This was quickly followed by another deal in November when Biden sold $650 million of air missiles to Saudi Arabia.
The state department claims these weapons are only for “defensive” purposes but they have been proven to be used to commit atrocities and kill civilians. For example just last month Saudi Arabia attacked a prison in Yemen killing at least 80 people and injuring at least 200.
These weapons from United States arms manufacturers such as Ratheon have also been used to kill children and target telecommunication causing a nationwide blackout according to a report from Amnesty International.
The United States also supplied fighter jets to Saudi Arabia that were used to strike the home of a former military official killing 14 people including women and children as well as six civilians in a telecommunication strike.
The Biden administration has also sold 23 billion dollars worth of weapons to the UAE which was also involved in the strike on the Yemen prison as well as the telecommunication strikes.
Biden has also pledged his support for the UAE and Saudi Arabia in Yemen saying “America will have the backs of our friends in the region”.
Biden casually floats genocide
Biden has even gone so far as to float the idea of reinstating the Trump administration’s labeling of the Houthi rebels as terrorists.
Because the Houthis are the authorities in most of northern Yemen this designation would block humanitarian aid to the region leading to the starvation of millions.
According to Iman Saleh a coordinator for the Yemeni liberation movement “This policy would starve millions and Biden knows that”.
Shireen Al-Adeimi a professor at Michigan state university said “this designation would be absolutely catastrophic for the people of Yemen, and would literally cause the starving of millions and millions of people, many are already starving this would just ensure that they would all die”.
Biden’s lies
Of course, Biden’s campaign promise was just a way to get support from Yemeni voters as well as leftists and was a complete lie.
Instead of making the moral decision to end this genocidal war, Biden has decided to sell out to Saudi Arabia the UAE, and the military-industrial complex.
