Ukraine Imagery Used for Misinformation, Emotional Manipulation & Propaganda #Receipts

The media are either intentionally lying to you, spinning a narrative and/or they’re tools of propaganda who can’t see it - or even question it before hitting RT.

Ukraine Imagery Used for Misinformation, Emotional Manipulation & Propaganda #Receipts

indienewsnetwork.substack.com

Misinformation has been a hot topic in mega-corporate controlled media and of course on social media. What happens when the sources Americans trust are routinely caught lying to them, using false imagery to generate an emotional response and trigger that instinctual programming…

“America, good - Russia, bad.”
”Anyone America backs is automatically good”

For any American born since WWII, these 2 concepts have been subliminally and overtly programmed into us our whole lives.

Ask yourselves: who is telling these outlets to run with this old footage & old imagery while intentionally misleading viewers & readers?

Example A: the kids saluting the tank with the Ukrainian Flag

This is a heartwrenching image, RTd more than 2500 times and almost 10,000 likes from just this one person. I’m sure we would find this image was shared and liked millions of times worldwide. There’s just one problem:

This image is *not* current. It was published on Facebook in 2016 by Dmitry Muravsky, a volunteer photographer for Ukraine’s defense ministry who was dismissed following accusations by soldiers and local photographers that he staged a series of combat photos.

Example B: Getty Images and the Bandaged Lady

**Update 2/27 - we have been advised that this image is actually real and are working on confirming this, but there has been a lot of confusion over a similar photo or set of photos from 2018 & 2020 with the same building from the same angle.
**Update II 2/27 - this appears to be authentic - this one was not misinformation, but the tweets below confused the situation and will mislead thousands (including me) - thank you to all who have helped get to the bottom of this.

*Note* This is an actual photo. As soon as the first reports of Russia invading Ukraine came out and that a building was hit, this image (published by Getty Images) seemed to be shared everywhere, which set off a huge red flag to me immediately. Spidey senses started tingling…

Except... how can this have been yesterday if the same building and woman appeared in the same photo back in 2018?

What are the chances that the same woman from a bombing in 2018 ends up the exact same way in 2022? See thread

@BethCharron1 indeed a very unlucky woman, Wolfgang Schwan was the photographer and of all the images in this set and she was the only one with a bloody face anadoluimages.com/Search?photogr…

Two years of media propoganda and manipulation should have us all on our guard. With covid gone, the emotional fearmongering switches to Russia. This lady appeared in a picture of a gas explosion in Ukraine in 2018. The lesson yet again? Know your enemy.

Example C: The Donbass Dad

Another gutwrenching image, RTd more than 13,500 times and almost 50,000 likes from (again) just this one blue-check journalist on Twitter.

Heartbreaking: A father in Ukraine says goodbye to his kids as he sends them to safety. He is staying behind to fight for his country.

He is in Donbass. He is speaking Russian. He is actually going to fight "the fascists" aka Ukrainian "soldiers" or militia. This is 100% wrong But she gets 25k rts. My fact check won't even get 25! C'e le vie!

We are all vulnerable to misinformation - the key is to be skeptical and critical of things put out immediately by state governments, question and verify everything possible from independent sources - and DO NOT ignore any narratives. They are ALL data points. Please share and RT the tweet below to help others avoid being misinformed by emotional reaction.

Anyone who tweeted this image today: take a hard look at your news sources & realize they are either intentionally lying to you, or they’re tools of propaganda who can’t see it or even question it before hitting RT, b/c it feels like they’re doing something. But they’re not.
